14 de novembro The Neighborhood SquirrelThis morning while getting ready to do a few errands...and calling a few folks, I noticed the neighborhood albino squirrel was in my front yard... so of course I grabbed my camera.
Until this morning... I guess I never thought about how much they look like white rats, lol.... those ones my kids were lucky enough to bring home from school for a weekend to care for. Those fun school projects and pets!! 09 de novembro Looking at a Blank PageI've stopped in here from time to time with the intent of doing some writings.... but I sit looking at a blank page. Oh of course there are plenty of ideas...but then I get to looking at my blank page and the thoughts running through my head all seem to fade. Work..past and present, growing up, day to day comedies and tragedies.... Writer's block? A sense of blah? Or do I just need to light a fire and do it? At the moment its a little of everything and alot of nothing..... maybe its just the change of the seasons?
19 de outubro Leaves.... and more leavesIt has definately been an interesting fall.... last weekend there was snow...
This past weekend, it was beautiful! Which lead me to start thinking about fall's clean up! The single tree in my backyard has barely shed even 1/10 of its foliage and the ground is already covered. While I fantasize about a big wind coming along and blowing the mess into a neighbor's yard, I did start thinking about raking. I know its great exercise and all the benefits but I'm dealing with a bit of tendonitis in my right elbow...so I imagined the next best thing. A new 'toy'... lots of power, noise and it will get the job done. One of the home improvement places had a leaf blower/vacuum on sale... so it was off for some shopping.
The sun was shining, the skies were blue... so I took the backroads for a drive in the countryside. Some of those backroads can be pretty..but while driving its kinda tough to grab the camera, so I did the next best thing, lol..my phone.
There is just something about a tree lined road that is relaxing!
So now I have my leafblower, some wall paper border for one of my rooms, a few things for organizing the garage... yeah, I know, that home improvement store is dangerous, lol.
And now that I've gotten the blower out of the box.... I can start to tackle tackle the backyard... a couple times!
15 de outubro Fall's AfternoonA few weeks back, I spent some time at one of the many 'Apple Festivals' that appear this time of year. The abundance of fall's harvest brings many people together to visit, sample new varieties of apples and just plain enjoy the days before winter. It didn't take long for 'winter' to let us know that it has its own sense of timing! Its only mid-October and we've had 3 days of snowfall. Basically nuisiance snowfalls but still *ugh* snow! Signs of the white flakes in the mornings melt away by noon. It makes for interesting commutes to work in the mornings and some sloppy driving down the side roads in the countryside. The coolness and dampness of the days tend to settle in my bones making it an evening treat to have a warm cup of tea before heading to bed at night. Now of course, I can't stop mother nature from bring the seasons to us early...but dang, it sure would be nice to have a couple more warmer days before winter really sets in! 01 de outubro A month of full moonsEver have one of those months, days, weeks or even years where it seems there's a full moon hanging around the whole time? Strange and drama filled events have been happening for the last month it seems, I've had computer problems...bugs, gremlins, nuicenses. Add to that a new boss a few weeks ago...moving to a new office building this weekend and life has definately had its share of stress! Now not to be dissing the new boss...but it is going to take a little getting used to her style of running the place.... throw in the move and the drama that goes along with any move, well... you'll understand the absence.
To add to the stress of the last month, one of my feline companions past away.... unexpectedly. It was a tough day...and I still have my moments.
So tonight's a rainy night... and in a short bit its time to head out to the lanes with the girls. An evening with good friends to discuss, complain, muse over life's events... throw a few balls down the lanes and enjoy an adult beverage or two.
Hopefully this month of full moon craziness will end with this weekend's move...I'm definately looking forward to a somewhat normal fall!
16 de setembro Finally Home.... and what a week its beenYeah...I've been gone again. Just 'up' the road to Duluth but not for fun really.... my son-in-law had back surgery and I got to take care of the grands. I've learnt that I'm in total agreement with my grandmother.... the grands are funner than the kids, lol...and I get to give them back at the end of the day!
It was good for me to be of help...yet, I'm not as young as I used to be, lol.... omg, tired!!!
The youngest little guy is a bit of a nut.... for some reason he enjoys lemons... even with the face after the taste!
02 de setembro A day of 'on a stick'Its state fair time....and the usual 'on a stick' world of treats and gimmicks. This year's fun one was 'beer on a stick'. The silly radio commercials 'interview' beer drinkers and the idea of beer on a stick. Deep fry it, freeze it and make a beercicle', and of course the die-hards who its sacreligious to have beer anywhere other than in a glass and then themselves, lol.
Well, the gimmick played out...and of course how could I pass up a beer... even on a stick? So here it is.... beer on a stick!
Cute huh?
As always.... life is interesting! I think its time to throw back a beer and relax tonight. 6 1/2 hours of wandering the fairgrounds yesterday and my feet are still recovering, lol. 29 de agosto "It won't be late, I have to work in the morning"When will I learn that those words are code for.... 'sucka, you're only going to get 3 hours of sleep'. Yep, a trip to the casino with a friend last night ended up being a very long night. I'm still ahead in the win/lost department but its the 'have to get up in the morning' department that bites me in the butt.
A couple weeks back, my life insurance company contacted me about 'we can give you more bang for your buck....if you pee in a cup'. My policy was being reviewed and time, economy, blah, blah, blah.. we'll increase your benefits without increasing your cost, we just need to check your vitals and stuff. So fine... come over Saturday 8am. When I agreed to that I hadn't planned on the late night....uggghhhhh, what a morning to have to be up early with NO coffee!! But what the heck.... I can go back to bed!
WRONG!!!! I had picked up some silly thing in my tire last week and dropped it off at the garage to be plugged. I had set up an appointment for some vehicle matinence one day next week. I got a call this morning that the tire was ready and me in my infinate wisdom decided to stop in today for the matinence. Chit chatting with my car guy ( he's such a sweetie... and a friend) my daughter text messages me.... OHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH Lordie.
Daughter 'are you home?'
Me 'no'
Daughter 'work?'
Me 'garage'
Daughter 'ah....date?'
(How am I not supposed to laugh and grin at the moment? lol)
Me ' no, brakes, lol... besides you know I don't date'
( just wild senseless bedtime... lmao, jk)
Ever notice how simple, senseless things are sooooooooooooooo strange on 3 hours of sleep?
I think its about naptime.... its been an interesting week and the start of the weekend is even more, well, more... yeah, strange. 23 de agosto Busy, busy, busyYou can tell summer is coming to an end, there is just alot going on.... throw in a few unexpected things and life just seems to get crazy. A few birthday parties the next couple weekends, a friend's auction, (downsizing and moving, now that the kids have grown and life has changed for her), my son-in-law is having back surgery...so I'll be babysitting a couple days.
The annual girl's night out at the state fair, usually opening day, had to change due to the bowling team changing lanes and league nights. So a bowling meeting and no-tap tourney this week, a trip to the state fair next week....
I have to keep giving my sister a bad time, I've kept talking to her about being on my bowling team. Well, I find out this week that the place she works at has decided to sponsor a team for 'work place moral' and she'll be bowling against us! Grrr...nothing like giving her a badtime about being a company man
Surgeries seem to be on the agenda for a few people I know... my son-in-law is going in for back surgery. One of my friend's daughters had emergency surgery last week..... blood clots removed from her brain. Some serious stuff going on.....
Lately, I feel like my head is spinning.... too many things on my to do list, too many life surprises. I guess its just the way it goes from time to time. I keep saying... life needs to slow down, pffttt, lol... now if someone would listen to me! Then again, m boring times slide in there from time to time. 15 de agosto Its summer, the weekend...and road constructionSummertime always seems to hold lots of things.... weekends at the lake, more time outside, festivals, carnivals..and road construcion. A necessary evil of sorts~ patching spots here and there, resurfacing and then again in some spots a total 'do over'. I am on the road quite a bit and sitting in long lines of non-moving autos my idea of a fun Friday afternoon. Most people love to head out on a Friday for vacation spots, cabins and family outings which means my usually less than exciting drive home turns into a whole different experience. What is usually a quick trip down the freeway, now turns into an hour or more turn at seeing who is in less of a hurry or 'Minnesota nice' state of mind. Then again... there is always the 'make a move' back roads! Before the freeway system was developed, the old state highway was the way to go between the Twin Cities and Duluth...or in other terms, 'up north'. My grandparents took this road up to their cabin every weekend and have often spoke about how the traffic was 'back then'. It moves a bit slower... 55 mph speed limit instead of the 70 on on the freeway, slowing down for the towns along the way...a stop sign here or there, but it works. Problem is, when the freeway backs up, I'm not the only one thinking about using the back roads and 'old 61' gets congested as well. The little two lane gets interesting.... yellow, no passing lanes... getting behind people who are out for their afternoon drive going 40 mph, pffftt. People... I'm done with work and want to start the weekend, lol. Another couple months of this and hopefully things will get back to normal! Thanks for visiting!
