"It won't be late, I have to work in the morning"

When will I learn that those words are code for.... 'sucka, you're only going to get 3 hours of sleep'. Yep, a trip to the casino with a friend last night ended up being a very long night. I'm still ahead in the win/lost department but its the 'have to get up in the morning' department that bites me in the butt.
A couple weeks back, my life insurance company contacted me about 'we can give you more bang for your buck....if you pee in a cup'. My policy was being reviewed and time, economy, blah, blah, blah.. we'll increase your benefits without increasing your cost, we just need to check your vitals and stuff. So fine... come over Saturday 8am. When I agreed to that I hadn't planned on the late night....uggghhhhh, what a morning to have to be up early with NO coffee!! But what the heck.... I can go back to bed!
WRONG!!!! I had picked up some silly thing in my tire last week and dropped it off at the garage to be plugged. I had set up an appointment for some vehicle matinence one day next week. I got a call this morning that the tire was ready and me in my infinate wisdom decided to stop in today for the matinence. Chit chatting with my car guy ( he's such a sweetie... and a friend) my daughter text messages me.... OHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH Lordie.
Daughter 'are you home?'
Me  'no'
Daughter 'work?'
Me 'garage'
Daughter 'ah....date?'
(How am I not supposed to laugh and grin at the moment? lol)
Me ' no, brakes, lol... besides you know I don't date'
( just wild senseless bedtime... lmao, jk)
Ever notice how simple, senseless things are sooooooooooooooo strange on 3 hours of sleep?
I think its about naptime.... its been an interesting week and the start of the weekend is even more, well, more... yeah, strange.

Busy, busy, busy

You can tell summer is coming to an end, there is just alot going on.... throw in a few unexpected things and life just seems to get crazy. A few birthday parties the next couple weekends, a friend's auction, (downsizing and moving, now that the kids have grown and life has changed for her), my son-in-law is having back surgery...so I'll be babysitting a couple days.
The annual girl's night out at the state fair, usually opening day, had to change due to the bowling team changing lanes and league nights. So a bowling meeting and no-tap tourney this week, a trip to the state fair next week....
I have to keep giving my sister a bad time, I've kept talking to her about being on my bowling team. Well, I find out this week that the place she works at has decided to sponsor a team for 'work place moral' and she'll be bowling against us! Grrr...nothing like giving her a badtime about being a company man Wink. So it will be a fun night when we bowl against her. The newer lanes has us going from an 8 team league to a 16 team one. It should be fun... we sat in on their spring meeting to learn a bit more about the group. While the lanes we were at were nice, I think we will have a bit more fun with this league... they seem to be more of a let's get out and have a bit of fun instead of the 'serious' bowlers we are used to.
Surgeries seem to be on the agenda for a few people I know...  my son-in-law is going in for back surgery. One of my friend's daughters had emergency surgery last week..... blood clots removed from her brain. Some serious stuff going on.....
Lately, I feel like my head is spinning.... too many things on my to do list, too many life surprises. I guess its just the way it goes from time to time. I keep saying... life needs to slow down, pffttt, lol... now if someone would listen to me! Then again, m boring times slide in there from time to time.

Its summer, the weekend...and road construction

Summertime always seems to hold lots of things.... weekends at the lake, more time outside, festivals, carnivals..and road construcion. A necessary evil of sorts~ patching spots here and there, resurfacing and then again in some spots a total 'do over'. I am on the road quite a bit and sitting in long lines of non-moving autos my idea of a fun Friday afternoon. Most people love to head out on a Friday for vacation spots, cabins and family outings which means my usually less than exciting drive home turns into a whole different experience. What is usually a quick trip down the freeway, now turns into an hour or more turn at seeing who is in less of a hurry or 'Minnesota nice' state of mind. Then again... there is always the 'make a move' back roads! Before the freeway system was developed, the old state highway was the way to go between the Twin Cities and Duluth...or in other terms, 'up north'. My grandparents took this road up to their cabin every weekend and have often spoke about how the traffic was 'back then'. It moves a bit slower... 55 mph speed limit instead of the 70 on on the freeway, slowing down for the towns along the way...a stop sign here or there, but it works. Problem is, when the freeway backs up, I'm not the only one thinking about using the back roads and 'old 61' gets congested as well. The little two lane gets interesting.... yellow, no passing lanes... getting behind people who are out for their afternoon drive going 40 mph, pffftt. People... I'm done with work and want to start the weekend, lol. Another couple months of this and hopefully things will get back to normal!

Sunday's Review

Like most things lately... things change, as does my blog once again. Started many years ago for various reasons... the reasons change as well, must be the aging and maturing going on, lol. Ok...soooooo I still have those moments of childish times, teenage type tragedies, etc... as much as I like to avoid drama, it sometimes does sneak in through the cracks from time to time. At the moment though, I've learnt how to inhale deeply and shake off other's self-created bs. I'm enjoying life.... but soon, summer will end and I'll be back hibernating inside and most likely...online. So goes it......
But for now, a new and exciting household item, lol. Those new 3 in 1 laundry things, since I was doing laundry this morning, as well as other little odds and ends around the place. Ughh...is this what my blog has come down to? Lol. Well...sure, the here now, gone later things in life. The little 'flyer' type advertising on the package is hoping that you are into the new and wonderful sense of 'going green'. Less packaging~ saves space, resources and even...*gasp*, fuel since it is lighter than the heavier liquid soaps and softeners!
Ok, I am being a bit silly... it is fun to look at what advertisers do to play upon the feelings of humanity. Of course, in some conversations, I've mentioned that I purchased this 'new' item and I've been asked to report back as to my likes or dislikes of it... Guess, I'm not all that into those things but sure... it works. Clothes are clean, soft...well, sure, I mean its not like I'm comparing it to anything in particular. So in the insanity of blogging.... I even did the before and after picture of the sheet. Lord, I must be bored

Nice blue detergent, line of softener and of course the dryer sheet.

Other exciting things? The grandbaby will be turning 1 this week... walking all over the place and turning into quite a daredevil from what I'm hearing, lol. Guess it is true... what goes around, comes around...or as my dad always told me, 'I hope you have one just like you'. Pfftt... no one could ever have that much fun and not get into trouble, lol. I even took one of those online quizes, that told me the same...

Bridget completed the quiz "What is your life rated" with the result   M for mature....
Your life is lived by a set of standards that has landed you in the maturity category. You live a responsible and ethical life, and make wise decisions. Though life is never dull or uneventful, you still manage to deal with an outstanding level of class and discipline. Yeah, like I believe everything I see online, lol.

I had another yet another person tell me that they like visiting with me so that they can live vicariously through my life.... umm, folks, I'm a good story teller....and honestly, I do enjoy living life. While I'm not actually out having an exciting night, every night, like the folks at work tend to believe, lol. I managed to occupy my time with activities... some more interesting that others, some pretty normal things as well. Balance... its what I believe in. A few quiet days, a couple more interesting ones.... then again, some of those quiet ones are more than interesting!

Small town county fair

Its that time of year again... summer's coming to a close and the county fairs are popping up all over the place. For a few days the excitment is in the air, kids can't wait to go on rides and play the games... the 'big kids' can't wait to visit old friends in the beer garden!
On Wednesday, the activites all started... trucks and trailers pulled into the 'fairgrounds' ready to take over for the next 5 days. Artists and farmers bring their items in to display, hoping for blue ribbons.
Truck and tractor 'pulls' fill a couple evenings with competitions, while those who thrive on true thrills attend the demolition derbies. Parades filled with clowns, high school bands and shiny firetrucks line the streets to entertain the crowds.
Growing up, the fair meant the end of summer... school would be starting soon. It was a time of mixed emotions.... excited to see friends in school again but not ready to end the carefree days of no commitments to time. Now, the fair means...*shiver* winter will be here sooner than you think! But I'm not going to think of that just yet... the cooler days of autumn still have their turn at amusing us. The colors of the trees... a few more 'festivals' and celebrations for us to enjoy.
